Phnom Penh: On September 25-26, 2023, Family Care First (FCF) project cooperated with terre des hommes to host Learning Exchange Visit and Community of Practice at Himawari meeting hall in Phnom Penh city. The event was joined by 14 organizations with 40 participants including representatives of Cambodia National Council for Children, USAID, AusCam Freedom Project, ChildSafe, APLE, Komar Rikreay Association, Plan International, OIC Cambodia, Safe Haven, Damnok Toek, Children’s Future International (CFI), Holt International Cambodia, Hagar International Foundation, SKO, CCT, TLC, ChildFund Cambodia, COLT, Terre des hommes, M’Lop Tapang, Mother’s Heart, DT, WHI. FCF project funded by USAID and Save the Childern in Cambodia. The purpose of this event were:
– shared and learnt from the available evidence frequency of and types of Online Child Sexual Exploitation (OCSE), prevention, referral mechanism, and interventions.
– presented National Action Plan to Prevent and Respond to OCSE in Cambodia 2021-2025, National Guideline Online Child Protection and Cambodia Child Online Protection Guideline for the Digital Technology Industry.
– learnt about good practices on how the existing mechanisms (close collaboration among stakeholders) to respond to OCSE cases.
As a result of this meeting, all participants have learnt about the child safety and child rights on online program, models of child sexual abuse and prevention measures presented by Terre des hommes, AusCam and APLE, and group discussions to find out about the impact of child online abuse, child vulnerabilities on the online system, especially the provision of support to protect children from the abuse. Participants also received information about interventions from Cambodia National Council for Children (CNCC) and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on the above topics as well.
