Battambang Province: On June 13, 2023, Komar Rikreay Organization (KMR), in collaboration with Holt and CCT, conducted a Community of Practice (CoP) at KMR’s meeting hall in Battambang province, with the active participation of DoSVY. Thirty-five participants from 14 organizations, including representatives of DoSVY Battambang, representatives NGO from HOLT, CCT, KMR, LWD, CFI, Damnok Toek PPT, ICS-PP, Safe Haven, SKO, PAflD, TLC, VOICE, M.H.O, took part in this learning opportunity. The purpose of this event was:
- To share and learn from the kinship and foster Care models implemented by Komar Rikreay (KMR), HOLT, and Cambodian Children Trust (CCT).
- To discuss the implications of kinship and foster care practices and adaptation for further expansion based on new policies, Prakas and new forms for FCF network.
As a result of the meeting, all participants learned about different models of kinship and foster care programs by Holt, CCT and KMR, engaged in group discussions on how their organization could provide support to kinship and foster care, and discussed how they could provide further support, especially children with disabilities. The participants also learned about the Decree (Prakas) on procedures to implement alternative care, as well as the Decree on kinship care and foster care presented by representative of DoSVY Battambang.
